He was born October 11, 1922 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Elmer and Esther Berblinger Ellerman. On June 27, 1958 he married Maxine Eleanor Frese in Quincy, and she preceded him in death on November 6, 1990.

He was a Quincy High School graduate and served 4 years in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was employed as a machinist for 30 years at Electrical Wheel until his retirement on July 1, 1982.

Survivors include his son, Brad Ellerman and wife Karla of Quincy; 4 grandchildren, Kaylan, Keri, Kristen, and Kevin Ellerman, all of Quincy; a sister, Darlene Laurich of Quincy, and 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Frese of Quincy, and Christine Frese of Burlington, IA. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be Friday, December 28, 2007 at 10 am in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Father John Carberry officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, December 27 from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Blessing Cancer Center in his name. Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
