Alan E. "Tom" Wellman, age 70 of 3614 So. 46th St., died
Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 7:22 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.
He was born May 21, 1936 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Leo and Margaret Klauser
Wellman. On June 17, 1975, he married Evelyn Burns in Quincy. She preceded him in death
November 3, 1992.
Mr. Wellman worked for the Quincy Public Schools for 20 years. He was a member of The
Church of St. Peter. He enjoyed caning chairs, refinishing furniture, gardening and being
outdoors.
Survivors include, 3 children Cindy Eckhart and her husband Jim of Marion, IA, Mark
Wellman and his wife Kim of Peoria, IL, Julie Giesseman of Cedar Rapids, IA, a stepson
Jeff Burns and his wife Marty of Quincy, 2 grandsons Tim Wellman of Ft. Worth, TX, and
Tyler Wellman of Peoria, a step grandson Michael Burns, of Quincy, a long time friend and
companion, Bobbie Ehrhardt of Quincy, 3 sisters Lee Ehrhardt of Liberty, Edith Edwards and
her husband Paul "Junior" of Payson, Mildred Spring and her husband Bob of
Quincy, and a brother, Marvin Wellman of Quincy, also numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a sister Irene Bunte and a step
grandson James Burns.
Services will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with
prayers at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass at 10:00a.m. in the
Church of St. Peter with the Rev. Dan Bergbower officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 4
to 7 p.m. at the funeral home with a Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery. Memorials made to the American Diabetes Association and St. Peter's ADA Building
fund in his name would be appreciated.
