Rosie Jane Sims

Rosie Jane Sims , age 80 of 1010 Jefferson, died Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 5:30 p.m. in Good Samaritan Home.

She was born November 15, 1925 in Hull, IL a daughter of Roy and Joyce McGraw Gillum. She married Calvin M. Sims in May 22, 1943 in Troy, MO. He preceded her in death June 16, 1989.

Mrs. Sims had worked at Davis-Cleaver and Motorola for many years. Then she was head cook at Anna Brown Home for 15 years. She was well known for her cakes and pies. She also loved fishing and growing flowers. Mrs. Sims was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son Gary Sims of Quincy; 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildlren; a brother Richard Gillum of Hannibal, MO; 2 sisters Virginia Rees of Palmyra, MO and Wanda Luker and her husband Larry of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Roy Gillum, a sister Rozella Dziatlik and a daughter-in-law Beverly Jane Sims.

 Services will be Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at 10 a.m. in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Lou Zuck officiating. Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Blessing Cancer Center, Good Samaritan Home or Hope Lodge in St. Louis.
