Rita S. Honaker, 70, of Burlington,
Iowa, formerly of Quincy, died Friday, Sept. 22nd following an automobile accident near
Burlington.
She was born April 21, 1936, the daughter of Homer Quinlan and
Myrl Griffin Clark, and grew up in Perry, Missouri and Quincy.
She graduated from Quincy High School in 1954 and attended the
University of Iowa for two years. She married James H. Honaker of Quincy on May 12, 1956.
He preceeded her in death in 1991.
While living in Quincy, Mrs. Honaker was a member of the Cedar
Crest and Spring Lake Country Clubs and the First Christian Church. She obtained her real
estate license and worked as a realtor in Quincy.
She and her husband owned a radio station in Burlington, Iowa
for several years. At the time of her death, she was employed as a realtor for Coldwell
Banker Great River Realty in Burlington. She was a member of the Burlington Board of
Realtors, the Iowa Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
She is survived by two daughters: Lisa Honaker of Freehold, New
Jersey (husband Michael Arnold) and Amy Myers of Burlington (husband Rick Myers); five
grandchildren, Ned and William Arnold of Freehold; Jamie, Danielle and Michelle Myers of
Burlington, IA; seven great grandchildren; and two aunts, Geraldine Farrell of Monroe
City, Missouri and Dora Rodefeld of Quincy.
Services will be Thursday, September 28, 2006 at 11:00 am in the
Hansen Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Joby Brown officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday
evening from 4:00-7:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Memorials in her name made to Habitat for Humanity of Quincy or the American Cancer
Society would be appreciated.
