Wanda L. Goertz , age 74 of 207
Sycamore, Ursa, died Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 5:11 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
She was born January 29, 1932 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter
of Harry and Mabel Hokamp Hanke. On August 25, 1951 she married Howard Earl Goertz in
Clayton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1992.
She was formerly a well-known real estate broker, licensed in
Illinois and Missouri, and in later years enjoyed working as a floral designer at Special
Occasions and then County Market at the 30th and Broadway location in Quincy.
She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and also a past
member of the National Realtors' Association. She was a devoted and loving daughter,
sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She enjoyed traveling to Texas with her
sister and brother-in-law, spending time with her family and friends, and most of all,
being a "Mamaw" to her grandchildren.
Survivors include, a son, Ricky L. Goertz of Mendon; a daughter,
Cheri Robertson and her husband, Larry of Mendon; four grandchildren: Lori Miller and her
husband, Darin of Ursa, IL; Madison, Mallory, and Matthew Goertz all of Mendon, IL; a
great-granddaughter, Sierra Miller of Ursa, IL; a sister, Joan Taylor and her husband,
Raymond of Quincy; two sisters-in-law: Marie Gifford of Springfield, IL; and Wilma Goertz,
of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews that she adored. In addition to her
husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angela Lynn; and her parents.
Services will be Monday, September 25, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in
Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Troxel officiating. Visitation will be
Sunday, September 24, 4-6 p.m.. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials made to
Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or Blessing Foundation for the Cardiovascular Center in her
name would be appreciated.
