Evelyn Rebecca "Betty" McLaughlin , age 92 of 708 Hill and Brook, formerly of 2206 Aldo Blvd., died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at 5:35 p.m. at her residence.She was born September 29, 1914 in Summer Shade, Kentucky the daughter of Charles B. and Bettye Wade Shive. On October 16, 1941, she married Frederick A. 'Fritz' McLaughlin in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1984.She was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High Schol in Pleasant Hill, IL and a 1935 graduate of St. Mary Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. McLaughlin was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. She was also a former member and president of Cheerful Home Board. She was a member of the Quincy Country Club, St. Mary Hospital Guild, Quincy Service League, Quincy Symphony Women's Guild and United Way (formerly Community Chest Board).Survivors include, a nephew, Doug McLaughlin and his wife, Mary, of Nashville, TN; two great-nieces: Mary Gibbs and her husband, Dr. Scott of Huntington, WV; and Susan Allen and her husband, James E. of Augusta, GA; and several cousins. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Boniface Cemetery with the Monsignor Michael Kuse officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials made to Quincy University in her name would be appreciated. |
