Wayne Arthur 'Ozzie' Disseler

Wayne Arthur "Ozzie" Disseler, age 72, of 4315 King St., Quincy, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 2:05 pm in Blessing Hospital.

He was born March 5, 1934 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Arthur Frederick and Viola Schmidt Disseler. On February 23, 1957 he married Valmont " Bunny" Gardler in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Quincy. She survives.

He was a graduate of Quincy High School and spent 3 years in Aviation School in the U. S. Marine Corps. He served in the Marines during the Korean Conflict from July 2, 1953 to July 1, 1956. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church where he was an usher and served on various church activities. He retired after 33 years from Moorman Mfg. Co. where he was a truck driver in the Customer Service Department. He served on the Saukee Area Council of Boy Scouts.

Survivors also include 2 sons, Steven W. Disseler and his wife Karen, and Michael S. Disseler and his wife Diane, both of Quincy; 1 daughter, Lessily Carter, Quincy; 7 grandchildren, Brandon Carter, Quincy; Sarah Stoltz and her husband Adam, St. Louis; Eric, Charleston, IL, Lydia, Nathan, Aubrey and Jenna Disseler, all of Quincy; 1 brother, Ted Disseler and his wife Edith, Quincy; 4 sisters, Charlotte Barry, Sharon Herron and her husband Kenneth, Sandra Banning and her husband James,and Cynthia Disseler, all of Quincy; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, Thomas Barry and a nephew, Jerry Barry.

Services will begin with prayers on Tuesday, Dec 5, 2006 at 10:00 am in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am in the St. Dominic Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Hagstrom officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home with a Wake Service at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church, the Parkinson Disease Foundation or the Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund.
