E. Jean Baker, age 79, of 4324 Harvey Street, Quincy died Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at 4:10 pm. in Blessing Hospital.

She was born November 18, 1926 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Clarence Robert "Hap" and Frieda Maureen Simpson Schuette.

Jean retired after 10 years as a monitor at Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials. She operated a dog grooming business in Carthage, IL for several years. She loved to go to the casino.

Survivors include three children, Randy Shake and his wife Peggy, Quincy; Willa Carter, Quincy, and Eugena Austin and her husband, Todd of Virden, IL; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 half sisters, Cynthia Sue Tucker and husband, Carl, Amboy, IL, and Helene Heckle and her husband Edward, Quincy, and an aunt, Opal Simpson, Quincy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Phillip Shake, and a great grandson, Collin Shake.

In honor of her 80th birthday there will be a gathering to celebrate Jean's life on Saturday from 2-4 pm at her daughter Willa's home at 515 No. 15th. Memorials may be made to the family. Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
