Lola Lee Mester, age 90, of 1637
Jefferson, Quincy died Friday, May 19, 2006 at 6:45am in Blessing Hospital.
She was born October 14, 1915 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter
of Clarence and Freda Hufendick Malone. On April 15, 1939 she married Howard L. 'Hob'
Mester in Quincy. He preceeded her in death on January 18, 1995.
She was a 1935 graduate of Quincy High School. She was a member
ot Trinity United Church of Christ and former president of the Women's Guild and a member
of the Fireside Group. She had been employed by Hardees for 5 years and for 10 years as
the swimming instructor at the Quincy YMCA, teaching also various water classes besides
swimming..
Survivors include 3 nieces, Susan McCleery and her husband,
Lloyd of Bushnell, IL; Shirley Ann Bracco and her husband Gerard of Detroit, MI; Kay Mutty
of The Villages, FL; a nephew, Jerry Stephens and his wife Elaine of Charlotte, NC; 2
great-nephews, John McCleery and his wife Dawn of Bushnell, IL; Darin McCleery and his
wife Katrina of Washington, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Hazel
Stauffer; Florence Stephens, and a brother Charles Pernel.
Services will be Monday, May, 22, 2006 at 11:00 am in the
Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy A. White officiating. Burial will be in
Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4-6pm at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ.
