Laura H. Conners, age 78, of 2130 Harrison, and formerly of 812 South 12th, Quincy, died Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 5:41 am in Blessing Hospital.

She was born June 27, 1927 in West Alton, MO the daughter of Roy and Julia Pollard Applegate. On January 11, 1947 she married Arthur A. Conners Sr. in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2003.

Laura was of the Baptist faith. She was a waitress at the Railroad Terminal and the Cuckoo Clock. She and her husband owned the Shamrock Tavern for 20 years, owned the Virginia Hotel, the St. Jude Hotel, the Park Hotel, Downtowner Lounge and Expressway Blues. She loved fishing, camping and bingo, but her special love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Art Conners Jr. and his wife, Thelma, Quincy; Carl Conners and his wife, Candy, North Little Rock, AR; Marc Conners Sr. and his wife, Brenda, Quincy; 10 grandchildren, 1SG Art Conners III and his wife, Shannon, Monument,CO; Kevin Conners, Quincy; Priscilla Miller and her husband, Greg, Great Lakes, IL; Laura Bailey and her husband, John, Cabot, AR; Brooke Austin and her husband, Toby, Cabot, AR; Carl Conners, II and his wife, Traci, Las Vegas, NV; Marc Conners Jr., Ottumwa, IA; Carrie Anderson and her husband, Dustin, Macomb, IL; Michael and Andrea Conners,both of Belleville, IL; daughter-in-law, Karen Conners, Belleville, IL; 12 great grandchildren, Victoria Lynn; Eric Andrew, Hope Elizabeth, Kaden Alexander, Kevin Andrew, Greyden Allen; Conner Allen, Abbey Grace, Jacob Falton, Coleman Andrew, Matthew Aidan and Haleigh Nicole; a sister, Laverne Schmidt, Montgomery City, MO; numerous nieces and nephews, and a favorite pet, Miss Maggie. She was preceded in death by parents; son, Eric; daughter, Sharon Lee; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Services will be Monday, May 8, 2006, 2:00 pm in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. George Tomko officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials made to Good Samaritan Home in Laura's name would be greatly appreciated.
