Mary Eddy Moore, age 86, formerly of 1708
Payson Ave., Quincy, passed into eternal life Sunday, March 26, 2006 at 7:05 a.m. Born on
July 26th, 1919, in Roanoke, VA, Mary was the beloved daughter of William
Carroll and Roxie Eddy. On June 19, 1948 in Roanoke, she married her "Sweet
William," William Robert Moore. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1995.
Mary was a faithful member of Central
Baptist Church where she was active for over forty years in the Loyal Workers Sunday
School Class and American Baptist Women. She graduated from National Business College in
Roanoke and worked many years as a medical stenographer and secretary, including years of
service in the LPN program at John Wood Community College.
She was a devoted mother to her children,
Carroll and Tom Makemson of Liberty, MO; Margaret and Mark Morgan of Delran, N.J.; and
John and Susan Moore of Quincy. Her grandchildren, who will miss her greatly, are Justin
and Lora Makemson, Justin and Leah (Makemson) Lonsbu.ry, Gregory and Daniel Morgan, and
Molly and Andy Moore. She also leaves four great grandchildren, Keller, Meyer, and Ingle
Makemson, and Aiden Lonsbury.
Mary was dearly loved by her surviving
sisters, Helen and Frances, and her sister-in-law Marion Ruth of Roanoke, VA as well as
her nieces and nephews. Her three brothers preceded her in death.
Friends are invited to visit with the
family at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Central Baptist Church prior to a 4:00 p.m. sanctuary
service to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central
Baptist Church or Sunset Methodist Home. Hansen-Spear Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
The family wishes to publicly thank the
wonderful people at Sunset Home who cared for their mother with compassion, love, and
respect in her final years.
