Carlton R. "Squeak"
Meyer, age 66, of 1304 Jackson, died Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 6:33 p.m. in Sycamore
Health Care Center.
He was born November 21, 1939 in Quincy, Illinois the son of
Carl H. and Sylvia A. Gardner Meyer. On February 17, 1962 he married Linda Sue Ramsey in
Luther Memorial Church in Quincy. She survives.
He was a 1957 graduate of Q.H.S. He worked as a wire cutter at
Motorola for 20 years. He also tended bar at "Bob and Sarge's" at 17th and State
for 10 years. Carlton was an avid sports fan, and followed the New York Yankees. He was a
life-time member of the South Side Boat Club and a member of Luther Memorial Church..
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Kelly
Lynn Meyer of Quincy; two sisters: Beverly Daniels and her husband, Richard of Glasford,
IL; and Prudy McKinney and her husband, Tom of Quincy; his father-in-law and
mother-in-law, Ed and Roberta Heck; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by his parents; a brother, Colbert Meyer; and a sister, Vivian Meyer.
Graveside services will be on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, 10:00 a.m.
in with the Rev. Leland Uden officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials
made in Carlton's name to Shriners' Children's Hospital or Luther Memorial Church or a
charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. Hansen-Spear Funeral Home is in charge
of arrangements.
