Blaine Wendell Johnson, age 84 of
526 Oriole Dr., Grand Junction, CO, formerly of Quincy, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at
7:45 a.m. in St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, CO.
He was born September 26, 1921 in Quincy, the son of Wendell F.
and Anna Frantzen Johnson. On August 23, 1942 he married Irene Gronemeyer in Vicksburg,
Mississipi. She survives.
Mr. Johnson attended Quincy College for two years and was a
Pilot Instructor during WWII. He was a USAF Primary flight Instructor at Malden Air Base
in Malden, MO for nine years. For 25 years he was in the AG Aviation Business in the
Tri-State area. He was an EAA member and an N.R.A. member. He was a member of Salem
Evangelical United Church of Christ where he had been an elder. He and his wife moved from
Quincy to Grand Junction, CO in 1990.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Blaine
Michael "Mike" Johnson; three daughters: Shirley Grunloh of Oshkosh, WI; Maureen
Johnson of Woodland Park, CO; and Pattie Timmerwilke and her husband, Jim of Palisade, CO;
seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Aleen, a
brother Emmett, and a daughter, Alice 'Georgie' Georgine Johnson in 1985.
Services will be Saturday, April 1, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in
Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim White officiating. Burial will be in
Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from nooN until 2:00 p.m. at the
funeral home. Memorials may be made to Salem Church or American Heart Association.
