Mr. Robert E. 'Gene' Homan, Sr. of
Maywood, MO, formerly of 801 S. 18th St., Quincy, died Wednesday, March 15 at 8:58 a.m.,
in the home of his caretakers.
Mr. Homan was born on May 17, 1931 in Mendon, Illinois, to John
Henry and Francis Lula Janes Homan. On October 2, 1948 he married Alta Margaret Schafer in
Palmyra, Missouri, she preceeded him in death on December 9, 1990.
Surviving is a son, Robert Eugene ( Bobby ) Homan, Jr.; a
daughter, Carol Ann Baker and her husband Terry Lee Baker, all of Quincy; two
grandchildren, Terry Eugene ( T.J. ) Baker and Bobbi Jo ( B. Jo ) Baker and three
great-grandchildren, Taylor Renee, Hannah Marie, and Chance Austin Baker, all of Quincy;
one sister, Etta (Boots) Jones of Quincy; three brothers, Richard ( Butch) Snow of Macon,
MO; James (Jimmy) Snow and Anthony ( Tony) Selsor, both of Waukegan, IL; his devoted
caretakers, Missy and Bill Griesbaum; his companion, Irma Martin and her family of
Maywood, MO; a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, several nieces and nephews and great
nieces and nephews.
Mr. Homan was preceeded in death by his parents, John and
Francis; his wife , Alta; two brothers, Donald and Kenneth Homan; and one grandson,
Richard Vaughn Baker.
Mr. Homan was a lifetime farmer and bulldozer operator in the
Palmyra and Taylor communities. He drove a truck for Leeser Transportation for nearly 40
years.
Funeral services will be in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home on
Saturday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Mann officiating. Burial will be in
Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7p.m. at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
