Martha M. Shrader, age 91, formerly
of 2508 Southbrook Road in Quincy, died Sunday, February 12, 2006 in Cumming Nursing
Center, in Cumming, Georgia.
She was born November 18, 1914, in Quincy, daughter of James and
Elizabeth Wessel Jacobs. On April 4, 1936 she married Claude O. Shrader in Quincy. He died
on April 28, 1993.
Martha was a graduate of Quincy High School. For the majority of
her life, she was a devoted wife, homemaker, and loving mother and grandmother.
Prior to her marrriage she was a member of the First Christian
Church of Quincy. Then, after her marriage, she became a member of the Vermont Street
United Methodist Church of Quincy and the Kum Dubl Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Carr and her husband, James
of Roswell, Georgia; a daughter-in-law, Carol Shrader Stamps of Centerville, Ohio; seven
grandchildren: Jeff Shrader and wife Jill of Centerville, Ohio; Mark Shrader and wife
Paula of Centerville, Ohio; Kevin Shrader of Centerville, Ohio; Jennifer Briesemeister and
her husband, Nathan of Basking Ridge, New Jersey; Amy Taylor and her husband, Derik of
Suwanne, Georgia; Blake Carr and his wife, Candice of Cumming, Georgia; and Susan Dunn and
her husband, Jeff of Austell, Georgia; ten great-grandchildren: Jordan Shrader, Kristen
Shrader, Andrew Shrader, Sam Shrader, Matthew Briesemeister, Will Briesemeister, Kate
Briesemeister, Davis Taylor, Abby Taylor, and Beau Carr. She was also preceded in
death by her son Jim and a sister Dorothy Hensley.
Services will be conducted on Friday, February 17 at 11:00 a.m.
in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Lou Zuck officiating. Visitation will be on
Thursday, February 16 from 4 to 7 p.m in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Burial will be in
Quincy Memorial Park. Memorial contributions made to Vermont Street United Methodist
Church in Martha's name would be greatly appreciated.
