Alberta Qualls McCoskey, age 89 of
101 N. 4th, Quincy, died Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
She was born December 7, 1916 in Gorham, Illinois the daughter
of Amos Qualls and Lucevia Kimzey Qualls. On November 22, 1935 she married Floyd
"Lefty" Johnson. He preceeded her in death in November, 1968. On July 1, 1970
she married George McCoskey , He preceded her in death on June 6, 2005.
She was a proofreader at the Murphysboro American newspaper in
Murphysboro, IL. She also worked at Brown Shoe Company for many years. She was a volunteer
at the American Legion and the Elks Club as well as the Oldtimers Retired Armour - Dial.
Alberta and George loved to dance, and she loved to play poker.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Wilson and her husband Gary of
Ballwin, MO; a step-son Dennis McCoskey and his wife Cathy of Barnett, MO; a step-daughter
in-law, Carol McCoskey of Bellville, IL; 3 grandchildren, Dana Griffith and her husband
Steven of Denver, CO; Scott Wilson and his wife Norma of Chesapeake, VA and Todd Wilson of
Aurora, CO; 3 step-grandchildren, Steven McCoskey and his wife Terry, Cincinnati, OH; Mike
McCoskey, Belleville, IL; and Karen Lynn Boisnard and her husband Dominique, Denver, CO; 3
step-great grandchildren, Kaitlin and Elise Boisnard, Dennver, CO; Davis McCoskey,
Cincinnati, OH; 4 great-grandchildren, Patrick, Sean and Andrew Wilson of Chesapeake, VA,
and Ryan Wilson of Aurora, CO; a sister, Priscilla Morrison and her husband William of
Quincy, and 44 nieces and nephews in Quincy. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3
brothers, LaVern, Edward and Leon Qualls and a sister, Regina Butler.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Hillcrest
Cemetery in Centralia, IL, Rev. Linda Gordon officiating. Memorials made to the Quincy
Humane Society or the American Cancer Society in Alberta's name would be greatly
appreciated. Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
