Evelyn E. Guthrie, age 92, of 1608
Maple, Quincy, died Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 1:10 pm in Blessing Hospital.
She was born March 29, 1913 in Philadelphia, MO the daughter of
Henry B. and Catherine M. Lucken Epker. On April 23, 1932 she married Lewis Guthrie in
Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1972.
She was employed by International Shoe Company, Eli Walker, and
Pipes Sitting Service. Evelyn was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Phoebean
Sunday School Class. She was a volunteer at the Illinois Veterans Home, Adams County
Health Department and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a very active lady
who stayed in her own home until her death.
Survivors include three children, Joan Parkhill and her husband
Philip of Quincy; Robert Guthrie and his wife Deanne of Quincy: Michael R. Guthrie and his
wife Joan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 11 grandchildren, Alan and Gary Parkhill of Parker, CO,
Dawn Parkhill McKenzie of Quincy; Lisa Parkhill Tenk of Fowler, IL; Julie Parkhill Curry
of Liberty, IL; Sherry Guthrie Hughett of Owasso, OK; Scott Guthrie of Camp Point, IL; Rob
Guthrie of Newark, MO; Daniel R. Guthrie of Coral Gables, FL; Linda L. Guthrie of Whiting,
IN; Jennifer L. Owens of Greensburg, PA; 20 great grandchildren; 4 great great
grandchildren, and a sister, Lillian Colvin of Mendon, IL. She was preceded in death by
her parents; a grandson, Todd Guthrie; three brothers and seven sisters.
Services will be Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 10:00 am in
Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. V. Lee Amsler officiating. Visitation will be
Tuesday, February 28 from 9-10 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenmount
Cemetery. Memorials made to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor's
choice in Evelyn's name would be greatly appreciated.
