Florence Caroline Bruening Loos, age 83, of Good Samaritan Home,
died Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 3:00 am in Good Samaritan Home.
She was born July 6, 1922 in Quincy, IL. She was the daughter of
Frank J. and Catherine Johanna Helmetag Bruening.
She married Allen W. Loos
September 19, 1942 in Fort Riley, Kansas Army Base Chapel. He passed away Aug 28, 1999.
Mrs. Loos attended St Mary Catholic Church and was a member of
the Altar Society and Leisure Club. She was past president of both the St. Rose of Lima
Altar Society, and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary of which she was still a member. She
was also Past President of Triple Oaks Ladies Club. She also served as a board member of
the YWCA, and was a member of the Ladies of Charity.
Mrs. Loos loved family
and was a dedicated grandmother.
She is survived by two sons, Nicholas
Allen Loos and his wife Dianna, and Gerald Brent (Jerry) Loos and his wife Mary, all of
Quincy; a god child, Diana Bockenfeld of Quincy; 5 grandsons and a granddaughter, Corey
Lee Loos of Quincy; Christopher Paul Loos and his wife Jane of Plainfield; Erin Marie Loos
of Chicago; Thomas Brent Loos and his fiance' Miki Lichti; Casey Nicholas Loos, and
Matthew Allen Loos and his fiancee Jessica Ebbing, all of Quincy. She is also survived by 2 sisters-in- law,
Velma (Sally) Bruening and Evelyn Loos Schwartz, and a step sister, Mrs. Bill (Helen)
Slater.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
a son, Jeffrey Paul Loos in 1974; a brother, Frank H. Bruening; a step mother, Marie
Sefton Bruening, and a step sister, Mrs. Harold (Betty) Schutte.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday,
April 18, 2006 at 9:30 am in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed by a funeral
mass at 10:00 am in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Monsignor Michael Kuse officiating.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Knights of Columbus
Mass for Shut- Ins.
