Rodney Myron "Rod"
Lindroth, age 72, of 4229 Payson Rd., Quincy, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at 2:10 am in
the Illinois Veterans Home.
He was born July 8, 1933 in St. Olaf, Iowa a son of Myron and
Nettie Larson Lindroth. On D ecember 28, 1952 he married Shirley Caroline Bernhard in Giard
Methodist Church, McGregor, Iowa. She survives.
Rod was employed by Peters Heating and Air Conditioning for 33
years. He graduated from high school in Monona, Iowa and attended Luther College at
Decorah, Iowa before entering the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Norway Lutheran Church in St. Olaf, Iowa
before moving to Quincy where he was a member of the Luther Memorial Church. He was a
member of the Liberty Lions Club for many years, bowled with the Liberty League, enjoyed
boating, camping, square dancing, and his dog, Bubbles.
Survivors also include three daughters, Janice Jones and her
husband Greg of Maywood, MO; Jereith "Jeri" Lubbert and her husband Jeffrey and
Joellen Klutz and her husband Ronnie, all of Quincy; a son, Jared Lindroth and his wife
Stacie of Bradley, IL; eight grandchildren, Heather Brummal of West Fork, AR; Jennifer and
Jason Lubbert; Cori Rees; Ashley and Brennan Klutz, all of Quincy; Peyton and Jadyn
Lindroth, both of Bradley, IL; a great granddaughter, Jaylen Lubbert of Quincy; a sister,
Karen Englehardt and her husband Roy of St. Olaf, IA; a brother, Kenneth Lindroth of
Springlake Park, MN; five nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents
and a sister, Marilyn Lindroth.
Services will be Wednesday, April 12, 2006, 10:30 am in Luther
Memorial Church with Rev. Leland Uden officiating. Entombment will be in Quincy Memorial
Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11 from 4-7pm at Hansen-Spear Funeral
Home. Memorials may be made to Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund or Luther Memorial
Church.
