Edythe W. Compton, age 99 of 624 S.
21st, Quincy, died Friday, April 21, 2006 at 3:19 pm in Blessing Hospital.
She was born February 22, 1907 in Novinger, Missouri the
daughter of Guy Louis and Bertha Fra ncis Craven Compton.
She was a graduate of Kirksville High School and Gem City
Business College. She was employed by Brower Manufacturing for many years until her
retirement. Edythe was a member of The Crossing. She loved to crochette and made baby
blankets for newborn babies.
Survivors include her brother, Guy Compton, Jr. and his wife,
Betty of Dallas, TX; nieces and nephews, Michael Compton and his wife Carol of Grapevine,
TX; Debbie Burgy and her husband, Ron of Parker, CO; Jonathan Compton and his wife, Julie
of Plano, TX; Darwin Compton, and Shirley Compton; 7 great nieces and nephews, James,Will,
Christopher and Catherine Compton, Jennie, Zach and Kelsey Burgy. She was preceded in
death by her brother, Ameul Compton.
Services will be Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 11:00 am in
Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Harris officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday,
April 25 from 4-6 pm.at the funeral home. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
