Laura A. Taylor, age 94, 2130
Harrison, died Sunday, November 6, 2005 at 6:55 am in Good Samaritan Home.
She was born October 10, 1911 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter
of Everett and Clara Sass McCollum. On July 9, 1933 she married George Taylor in the
Lutheran Church of St. John, Quincy. He preceded her in death.
She and her husband owned and operated "the Cozy
Kitchen", and later she owned "The Snack Shack" in Canton, MO. She had
worked six years as a salesperson at the House of Friendship and 7 years as a salesperson
at Skaggs.She was a member of the Lutheran Church of St. John and was a member of the
Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Bixler of Canton, MO;
Sandra Kay Franklin and her husband Kenneth of Colorado Springs, CO; a son, G. R.
"Ronald" Taylor of Canton, MO; 9 grandchildren, Paula Bobeen and her husband
Paul, Troy, MO, Gail Bixler-Cottrell and her husband Frank, Canton, MO, Craig Franklin,
Denver, CO, Dean Franklin, Pueblo, CO, Alan Franklin, Denver, CO, Kelly Mast and her
husband Richard, San Bernadino,CA, Larry Taylor and his wife Barbara, Canton, MO, Mike
Taylor, Canton, MO, and Dan Taylor and his wife Donna, Olathe, KS; 15 great grandchildren
and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a
granddaughter Kathy Bainbridge; a brother, Everette McCollum, and a sister, Edith Kruse.
Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005 at 11:00 am in
Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Bender officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday
evening from 4pm-6pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials
may be made to the Lutheran Church of St. John or the Good Samaritan Home.
