Dorothy Sanders, 91, St. Vincent Home and
formerly of 527 Broadway, Quincy, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at 2:30pm in the St.
Vincent's Home.
She was born August 7, 1909 in Bluff Hall, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Susie
Morgan Zimmerman. On March 21, 1934, she married Joseph H. Sanders in Quincy, IL.. He
preceded her in death on February 22, 1960.
Mrs. Sanders was an employee for the former Miller Statue Co for 11 years and retired from
Blessing Hospital where she worked in the housekeeping department. She was a member of
Central Baptist Church & the Miriam Sunday School Class.
Survivors include three sons Marion Rupert, Eldersburg, MD; Joseph H. Sanders and his wife
Leota, Marshall, MO; Jerry E. Sanders and his wife Joyce, Quincy; nine grandchildren
Teresa Callahan and her husband Tony, Westminster, CO; Janet Failor and her husband
Arthur, Marshall, MO; Michael Sanders, Chicago, IL; Lori Cour and her husband Bill,
Springfield, IL; Bill Sanders, Quincy; Richard Wolter, Quincy; Eileen Williard and her
husband Tom, Skyesville, MD; Donald Rupert, Austin, TX; Patricia Howk, Piqua, OH; ten
great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; 2 sisters Gladys Ransom, Ventura,
CA; Ruth Simons, Pittsfield, IL. She was also preceded in death by one daughter Vivian
Wolter, one son-in-law Roland Wolter; one daughter-in-law Shirley Rupert; and one
granddaughter Susan Floyd; sister Mabel Zimmerman and one brother John Zimmerman.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am Friday, March 16, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev.
Charles D. Baker, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4-7pm. Burial
in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to American
Cancer Society and\or Blessing Hospice, and Central Baptist Church.
