Janet A. Dedert, 70, 6805 N. 72nd, Ellington
Twp., died Tuesday, January 2, 2001 in her residence.
She was born July 28, 1930 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of George W. and Amanda
Bangert Dedert.
She was a graduate of Unity High School at Mendon and attended Gem City College. She was
employed at Moorman Manufacturing Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1987. She had lived in
Quincy, until moving to Oysterville, Washington in 1990. She enjoyed singing and sang in
church choirs and for many weddings. She is a member of Peninsula Baptist Church in
Washington state and previously Columbus Road Baptist Church in Quincy.
Survivors include 3 sisters, Carlene and Leatrice Dedert, and Georgeann Starman and her
husband Leaton, all of Quincy; a niece, Michelle Starman, Tacoma, WA; 2 nephews, Kim
Starman, Jacksonville, IL; and Kyle Starman and his wife Jillian, Quincy; 3 great nephews,
Gregory and Christopher Starman, Quincy, and Nicholas Starman, Edwards AFB, CA; 2 great
nieces, Elizabeth and Victoria Starman, Quincy; and many good friends.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 5, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev.
John Adams officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blessing Hospice, Columbus Road Baptist Church or
Peninsula Baptist Church .
