Jack Alford Dennison II, age 57, of 1406 N. 600th Ave., died at 3:18 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in his home.
Jack was born September 29, 1954 in Hannibal, MO, the son of Jack Alford and Peggy Pusey Dennison. He married his high school sweetheart Joan Marie Schroder on August 3, 1974 in Quincy. She survives.
Jack attended Hull Elementary School and he graduated from St. John’s Military School, Salina,KS, in 1973. He spent 12 years in the United States Navy and worked at Ashley Furniture for 15 years in the service and repair departments. Jack loved to fish, go camping and mushroom hunting. On March 13th he received the Lord. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Survivors in addition to his wife include: three sons, Jack Alford (Paulette) Dennison III of St. Louis, MO; Jon (Becky) Dennison of Payson; and Josh (Michelle) Dennison of Quincy; five grandchildren, Mariah, Kyler, Joey, Julianna and Bella, and a grandson Jacob, due June 12; a sister, Terry (Paul “Jim”) McIntosh of Quincy; a brother, David Dennison of TX; a niece, Jennifer (Greg) Sill; and a nephew, Paul (Angie) McIntosh, sister-in-law Wanda Webster, brothers-in-law; Joe (Ruby) Schroder, Jerry (Sue) Schroder, Jan (Pam) Schroder & Jay (Teri) Schroder; and several nieces & nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack Alford Dennison, mother Peggy Pusey McElroy, step-father Vic McElroy, a sister Debbie Dennison and a grandson Zackary.

Services: Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10 a.m. in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Henderson officiating.
Burial: Sunset Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home

He was a wild man in HS. I remember him driving in his Sr year in an old, I mean old, Chrysler. Had to slam the right read door to open the trunk. Had a piece of tree bark aiming one headlight. To start the wipers you had to reach into the dash where the speaker used to be and start cranking a bar to get it going. Had a chunk of rubber the size of your fist out of one tire. Jack passed the car down the the Jr class upon graduation. Sorry to hear of his passing but memories of Jack always bring a smile. RIP.
Jack was a true friend. He was fun to be around and I never remember a harsh word from Jack. I will miss him. So sorry for Sissy and family. Life is short, we should all hug are kids, kiss are spouse, and tell them we love them.
