Gloria Faith Peters , age 88, formerly of 2106 S. 23rd in Quincy, died September 12, 2012, at 2:25 pm in the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
Gloria was born June 25, 1924 in Hardin, Illinois, the daughter of Philip H. and Goldie Blackwell Stumpf. She married Fred Antone Peters on September 6, 1947 in Batchtown, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2011.
Gloria and Fred farmed in Calhoun County, IL, for many years. For many years she worked on the election board in Calhoun County. She and her husband came to Quincy in 1987. She was of the catholic faith. In her spare time Gloria enjoyed sewing and quilting. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include: two sons, Roger (Marianne) Peters of Quincy, and Fred A. (Sandra) Peters of Sedalia, MO; four grandchildren, Fred A. (Rebecca) Peters of Cunningham, TN, Chad J. (Engrid) Peters of Newport News, VA, Kevin A. Peters, Emily L. Peters both of Quincy; and five great grandchildren, Lincoln, Hailey and Keith Peters of Newport News, VA, Fred and Karoline Peters of Cunningham, TN.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a grandson Roger D. Peters, two brothers, Gerald and Forrest Stumpf, two sisters, Geneva Bonner and Phyllis Snyders, two brothers and a sister in infancy.
The family is very grateful to the Illinois Veterans Home for the compassionate care given to Gloria while she lived there.
