GIVE BACK is our way of engaging the online community in support of worthy organizations in the Quincy, Illinois area. We feel it is important to support our local community. As a small part of how we GIVE BACK to the Quincy community, we would like to have your suggestions on what organizations we should support.
Each month, Hansen-Spear Funeral Home will award $100 to the charity or non-profit that receives the most votes in the GIVE BACK contest. We are asking for your help in supporting our community. GIVE BACK – $100 Award Recipients
November 2013 - Liberty High School – Washington tornado fund
In the picture above, I am presenting the GIVE BACK donation to Connor Wolf (Liberty High School Student Council President), Jessica Kearns (student council freshman representative), and Mrs. Karen Carper (Liberty High School Principal).
On the 25th of November a group of Liberty High School students traveled to the Washington, Illinois area to help with the clean up after the tornado. Since all students could not attend, but wanted to help, the LHS Student Council raised money through bucket donations and a bake sale. The council was able to send $578.00 to Washington Middle School to help replace book bags, musical instruments, books and supplies that were destroyed by the storm. With the GIVE BACK Donation from Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, they will be able to send additional money to Washington Middle School. The council will continue to collect funds and help with the rebuilding of Washington. More students are currently planning a trip to help with the clean up during Christmas break.
The need to help Washington, Illinois came with the concern of our principal, Mrs. Karen Carper. Mrs. Carper grew up in Washington and still has a number of family members and friends residing in the area. A number of students also have relatives and connections to the area.
October 2013 – THE GIVE BACK Contest will resume in November 2013. In the meantime, Visit or Facebook Page and LIKE Us to Help Support the Blessing Breast Center. We will Donate $1.00 to the Blessing Breast Center for each new fan through the end of October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
