Gisela Karg, age 86, of Frankfurt, Germany, and a 20 time visitor of Quincy, died on March 29, 2012 at University Hospital in Frankfurt.
She was born on May 16, 1925 the daughter for Joseph and Agnes Hering Schmitt. On 30 April, 1950, she married Fritz Karg in Frankfurt, Germany. He preceded her in death on 12 June 1998.
Gisela was very active in her church and in the community. She had continued to live in the house she and Fritz built in 1949/50, until her death. Gisela enjoyed traveling in Europe and the US with Fritz. She made many trips to the United States with Fritz, and after his death. She also visited Argentina and Brazil with a dear friend. She loved to sing, and was a member of her church choir for over 50 years. She also led her parish’s ladies group for over 40 years.
Survivors include seven children, Mechtild (Ron) Kosin, of Quincy, Christoph (Gaby) Karg, Birgit Karg, Wendelin (Ursula) Karg, Ursula Lange, Heribert (Gabi) Karg, and Winfried (Inge) Karg, all of Germany; 11 grandchildren, Theresa (Steve) Volk and Katherine (Paul) Kaufmann, both of Illinois, Jonas Karg, Patrick Lange, Janine Karg, Oliver Lange, Caroline Karg, Felix Karg, Johannes Karg, Gundula Karg and Clarissa Karg, all of Germany; six great-grandchildren, Mareah, Henry and Aaron Volk, and Bridget, Jacob and Alex Kaufmann; two sibblings, Heribert Schmitt and Marianne Schmitt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and a son in law.
Funeral services were held in Germany on the 4th and 5th of April, 2012.
