Eva Mae Bowen

Eva Mae Hill Bowen, age 64, of Quincy, peacefully passed away with her family  at her side on Monday, January 23, 2012, at 4:55 pm.

Eva was born March 7, 1947 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the daughter of Otis Eugene and Juanita Marie Carle Manley  She married Joseph Bowen on July 15, 1977 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2004.

She was a graduate of Quincy Senior High School and she held a degree in Pharmacy Technology. She worked at the Mini-Marts on Harrison and in West Quincy.

Eva enjoyed bowling on a women’s league at Casino Lanes and was a member of the Women’s International Bowling Congress. She also enjoyed playing bingo, solitaire, solving crossword puzzles, and reading gossip and tabloid magazines. She loved animals.

Survivors include: her mother, Juanita Manley; six children: Lisa (Kent) Tournear of Quincy, IL; Nora Bowen of Quincy, IL; Brandon (Trisha) Bowen of Camp Point, IL; Joseph (Susan) Bowen of Golden, IL; Andy Bowen of Quincy; and Becky (Greg) Troy of Quincy, 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her sister Iris Rose, her brother Bill Manley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Otis E. Manley, and a sister Barbara Wellman.

Services: 12:30 pm Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Roger Selves officiating.

Burial: Greenmount Cemetery

Visitation: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday January 27, 2012 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home

    We are so sorry to hear about our Cousin passing away. You are in our thoughts and Prayers. I remember Eva Mae and her 1955 light blue Chevy she drove during her Senior Year. We had a lot of fun in 1964 while I stayed in Quincy and attended the Beauty School Academy.
