Ervin Miller

Ervin H. Miller, age 87, of 1405 Maple, Quincy, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at 12:05 am in Blessing Hospital.

He was born September 25, 1924 in Lorraine, Illinois the son of Frank G. Miller and Alma C. Heinecke Miller. On April 27, 1949 he married Irene Watkins in Ft. Benning, Georgia. She survives.

He graduated from Mendon High School in 1942. He served in the Army in Korea from 1948 – 1950. For 34 years he worked as a welder for Electric Wheel and then for Firestone. He was very proud of the fact he had never taken a sick day the entire time he worked there. Ervin and Irene greatly enjoyed the sense of family and fellowship at Lighthouse Baptist Church. He loved to garden and always looked forward to the first tomato of the season. In his spare time he enjoyed simply sitting quietly reading the newspaper. Most of all, Ervin loved spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Damhorst and her husband Mark of Quincy; four grandchildren, Isaac (Kristina) Miller of Quincy; Neal (Tabitha) Miller of St. Louis; Megan Miller and her fiance’ Josh Masterman of Bloomington; and Jennifer Damhorst of Quincy; two great-grandchildren, Dean Miller of St. Louis; and Finleigh Miller of Quincy; 2 sisters, Dorothy Bentzinger of Sutter, IL, and Adelene (Basil) Rupp of Hot Springs, AR; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Miller.
