What is the difference between metal and wood caskets?

Bronze

For thousands of years, craftsmen and artisans have recognized the beauty and durability of bronze and copper. They many not have realized however, that the works of art and practical tools they shaped and molded in these natural materials would prove nearly indestructible through the ages.

Many families choose bronze because it is superior to all other casket materials in strength, durability and naturally non-rusting qualities. Each bronze casket is equipped with a one-piece rubber gasket. This gasket creates and effective closure between the top and bottom of the casket and helps resist the entrance of outside elements such as air, water and soil into the casket.

Hansen-Spear offers a variety of bronze caskets in our Classic Collection.

Copper

For thousands of years, craftsmen and artisans have recognized the beauty and durability of bronze and copper. They many not have realized however, that the works of art and practical tools they shaped and molded in these natural materials would prove nearly indestructible through the ages.

Copper caskets are naturally non-rusting, and each copper casket is equipped with a one-piece rubber gasket. This gasket creates and effective closure between the top and bottom of the casket and helps resist the entrance of outside elements such as air, water and soil into the casket.

Hansen-Spear has copper caskets in various styles and colors in our Classic Collection.

Steel

Steel and stainless steel caskets are designed for superior strength. Constructed from solid steel, they combine lasting protection and striking beauty. These caskets are available in a wide variety of colors and styles. Metal caskets must pass a series of factory tests to ensure their protective qualities.

Most steel and stainless steel caskets are equipped with a one-piece rubber gasket. This gasket creates and effective closure between the top and bottom of the casket and helps resist the entrance of outside elements such as air, water and soil into the casket.

Hansen-Spear offers a wide array of steel and stainless steel caskets, which can be found in each of our Classic, Commemorative and Conventional Collections.

Hardwood

Hardwood caskets are the choice of families who appreciate and cherish the qualities of natural wood. The warmth, beauty and personality it brings to fine furniture makes it ideally suited for the construction of quality caskets.

Wood caskets boast striking grains, colors and patterns. Wood is warm and inviting, dignified and elegant, and engenders a pride of ownership. Many woods are know for their durability and strength.

Hardwood caskets are available in a variety of species, including mahogany, walnut, cherry, maple, oak, poplar and pine. As with furniture, the species of wood used will affect both the appearance and cost of the casket. The unique natural grain pattern found in each piece of hardwood makes every casket an original.

Hansen-Spear offers wood caskets in each of the Classic, Commemorative and Conventional collections.
